We may have been advised against booking a foreign holiday, but that doesn’t mean we can’t take a break from our own four walls – we’re planning a little staycation right here in London as soon as it’s safe to do so. This spring sees the opening of Montcalm East, the latest hotel in the Autograph Collection. Occupying a prime Shoreditch position, with its striking, Op-Art inspired futuristic façade, it’s clear that what’s on offer here is a little bit different.
The cultural offering, is a big part of the hotel’s appeal. Montcalm has worked with art curators CULTURE A to commission a selection of thought-provoking artwork, with a focus on local East London and emerging talent. And a partnership with Proud Galleries will see the Mezzanine level adorned with works by legendary photographers who continue to capture the most iconic people, moments and trends defining pop culture. The hotel even has its own photo lab, enabling guests to capture their own moments on film and then develop them. Say cheese.
