On Trial: Deluxe Pedi at YoungLDN

I’ve a hankering for shiny toes to go with my new summer sandals, and I’ve been meaning to try out Westbourne Grove’s newest salon, YoungLDN, since it opened late last year, so it feels like the perfect moment to pop in.

Upstairs in the trendy ‘lounge’ area, the menu includes a variety of quick treatments, including lashes, brows, peels and make-up. There’s even an LED Bar offering express facial treatments designed to boost collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid for both anti-ageing and acne-beating purposes. Where nails are concerned, there’s everything from the express to the deluxe, via a CBD special and a special medical pedicure option. The latter is a bespoke treatment incorporating LED and laser therapy to resolve fungal nail infections, cracked feet, verrucas, plantar warts and athlete’s foot, from which, luckily for me, I’m assured I do not suffer.

I settle into one of the plush armchairs for a deluxe pedicure. Armed with a pile of glossy mags and sipping on a cup of herbal tea (which comes accompanied by a tiny Kilner jar of chocolate mini eggs), it feels like a delicious moment of time-out. My cuticles are seen to and my heels buffed, I’m treated to a foot scrub and a nourishing mask, followed by the most amazing foot and leg massage using my choice of essential oil, before my preferred polish is expertly applied. I’m impressed, and all the more so when I am treated to a tour of the ‘lab’ downstairs. Here, alongside high tech facials and peels, the team offer laser hair removal, micro-needling and tattoo removal.

When founder Sue Carroll’s teenage son suffered from acne, she was reluctant for him to rely on prescription medication, but found that he felt uncomfortable visiting clinics and spas for treatment. She designed YoungLDN to appeal to both this millennial and Gen-Z audience and their parents, and it’s clear to me that she has found just the right balance.

The deluxe pedi costs £50. 228 Westbourne Grove, W11 (020 8354 3970; youngldn.com)
