Wine on a Bank Holiday

Hot off the heels of Easter and with not one, but two bank holiday weekends coming up, long lazy weekend planning is on the cards. For a lot of us this will involve a glass of something cold and pink, so if you want to try something new, take a look at our selection below.

Domaine du Météore Le Cratère Sparkling Rosé (main image)

Meteoric wine producer, Domaine du Météore has expanded its range with a new organic Sparkling Rosé Wine, Le Cratère. An organic ‘methode champenoise’ sparkling rosé wine from Syrah grapes, which are all grown inside the 200-metre-wide meteorite crater from which Domaine du Météore takes its name.  Domaine du Météore have partnered with Birding Languedoc who have given their advice on the design of the wooden gift cartons for Le Cratère, making sure they can be upcycled as bird boxes to encourage nesting. A proportion of Le Cratère wine sales will be donated to this non-profit organisation, which is a lovely reason to buy more wine!

Domaine du Météore Le Cratère RRP: £28 per bottle. £33 per bottle with wooden bird box.  Available from: domainedumeteore.com

Cordoniu Rosado

Codurniu Rosado Brut NV Sparkling Rosé

Codorniu Rosado Brut NV – If you’d like to share a more conventional pink sparkling wine with your friends. Then try the Codorniu Rosado Brut, made entirely from Monastrell, also known as Mourvèdre in France, known for its rich red fruit flavours and clove-fragranced spice. An absolute steal for £9.49 at Waitrose this spring and bound to go down well at a barbeque.

Codorniu Brut

Codurniu NV Brut NV Sparkling White

Codorniu NV Brut –A dry, light-bodied Cava displaying green apple, citrus, almond and brioche characters. The Codorniu NV Brut is a very pale straw yellow.  The typical fruity aromas of these traditional varietals, citrus fruit, apple and white flowers, abound on the nose. A pleasant, fruity, fresh and balanced mouth-feel.

£9.99 per bottle from Majestic Wines

Chateau 281

Château Minuty 281, Côtes de Provence Rosé

This pale rosé with translucent reflections offers an intense and complex nose and is one to splash out on for a special occasion. A Bank Holiday counts as one of those, doesn’t it? The fineness of white fruit aromas is disclosed through iodine notes, giving it a unique character.

Available to buy at North and South Wines, £55.99

Chateau Minuty Rose

Château Minuty Rose Et Or, Côtes de Provence Rosé

Another oh so pale pink favourite from Provence, this Rosé Wine has intense aromas of orange peel and jasmine, followed on the palate by flavours of pink grapefruit and white stone fruit. The finish is zesty and crisp, helping to lift the rich, textured mouthfeel.

Available to buy at The Secret Bottle Shop, £25.95
