On the Veranda

Tucked inside South Kensington’s beautiful Regency streets is The Kensington’s newly launched outdoor all-day dining escape, The Veranda at KensingtonThe al-fresco space will welcome guests and locals to enjoy an all-day menu of gorgeous cocktails and cuisine, perfectly in time for the summer heatwave currently gripping London. 

Inspired by the sweeping, sun-soaked public spaces of southern European cities and desiring to capitalise upon the growing demand for al-fresco summer dining amongst Londoners, The Veranda is ideally situated for gorgeous views of the urban elegance of South Kensington. Housed within four Victorian Townhouses, The Veranda at Kensington provides a sparkling variety of spaces to while away long summer days and balmy summer nights right in the heart of London.

The restaurant, which is part of the Irish family owned The Doyle Collection, will embrace the tradition of Aperitif, imported from our neighbours in Italy and growing in popularity across the capital. Guests will be invited to start the afternoon with their version of the classic Champagne Cocktail, made with Martell VS, sugar, Angostura bitters, topped with Perrier-Jouët. One drink that is already sparking notable popularity is the Colonel – a delightful combination of Absolut Elyx vodka, lemon and Champagne sorbet, a concoction that renders the good old Aperol Spritz taste somewhat like a Guinness in comparison.

Veranda - Fabric

The Veranda, which is clearly modelled after mediterranean European cities and cultures, showcases a remarkable menu inspired by the continent too. Highlights from the opening menu include a selection of fresh, seasonal Salades – endive, blue cheese, apple & walnut; heritage tomato, halloumi, black olive & cucumber; and a seasonal asparagus, pea, mint & courgette. Also featured are a selection of house-made sandwiches – grilled Provencal vegetables tartine with sun dried tomato and feta; Croque Monsieur, Croque Madame and prawn, avocado & Marie Rose served in a brioche roll. More substantial plates include aubergine & tomato gratin; Cornish sole goujons; tuna niçoise; and Entrecôte, pommes frites, sauce béarnaise. To finish, the hotel’s pastry chef has created a Chocolat Liégeois sundae; Crème Brûlée; and baked lemon cheesecake.

The Veranda at The Kensington Hotel is situated in the heart of South Kensington, just minutes from South Kensington Tube, where Queen’s Gate meets the Old Brompton Road and is available to pre-book and also for walk-ins. Get there while it’s hot!
