Did Someone Say ‘Margarita Day’?

It’s true, International Margarita Day is on Friday 22nd February and what makes this year special is that this will mark the 80th year of the Margarita.

A Margarita cocktail consists of tequila, orange liqueur and lime juice. It is often served with salt around the rim of the glass, accompanied with a slice of lime. This classic cocktail comes either shaken with ice, blended with ice or made with no ice at all; it is all down to your personal preference.

You may be an avid Margarita drinker, or perhaps you haven’t yet had the pleasure of sampling one. The bottom line is, if you’re looking for something zesty and exotic that also packs a punch, then this drink is for you!

The perfect time to have a taste will be this week as in central London several bars will be serving their own variations of the Patrón Margarita to kickstart celebrations. In fact, lucky customers can sample a variety of Margaritas for up to a whole week rather than a day if they wish, as these bars will be celebrating from Monday 18th– Monday 25th February.

So, if you’re already fantasising over a wonderfully refreshing Margarita or two, here’s where you want to head to over the next few days:

And if you want to make one yourself, here’s a recipe for a Mango Margarita – available at London Cocktail Club.


40ml Patrón Silver tequila
25ml Fresh lime juice
20ml Agave syrup
2 barspoon Smooth mango chutney
+ Baby poppadum with chutney to garnish


1. Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker and shake with ice to chill.

2. Strain into a baby coupe glass

3. Garnish with a baby poppadum topped with chutney
