Stop everything. There’s a new pop-up bar in town, and this one has a glass of Bordeaux with your name on it.
Every weekday, from 4 – 22 June, the Bordeaux Butterfly Bar is open for business with more than 26 different wines to try. Set just round the corner from Liverpool Street in Finsbury Avenue Square, this pop-up outdoor bar is the perfect spot for an alfresco drink (or three). You’ll enjoy a taste of France in a decidedly British setting of white picket fences, festoon lighting, cheery butterfly bunting and a faux lawn thrown in for good measure.
On the List
Think Bordeaux, and you might expect a red-heavy winelist, but there are plenty of summery whites and fruity rosés to choose from too. If you’re not gifted with a palette that can distinguish each note of the bouquet, you can buff up on your vino know-how with the resident experts at the bar who are on hand to answer any Bordeaux-related questions.
It would be remiss of us to suggest sinking several glasses of wine on an empty stomach, so luckily there are plenty local street vendors providing nibbles. Complement your drinks with moreish salads, dumplings, hearty gourmet sandwiches and burgers from Rainbo, Baba G’s, Yolk and Sub Cult.
If all this sounds like it would make for a fun evening with friends, well, you’re not wrong. So why not make an event of it by booking a masterclass for you and your group? For £10 a person, bespoke sessions include five wines to sample: a white, a rose, a Crémant and two reds.
No visit would be complete without a quick game of babyfoot (that’s table football to me and you). It’s the perfect way to get in the mood for the World Cup, and you may discover a newfound confidence in your abilities with a glass of Bordeaux in hand…
The Bordeaux Butterfly Bar is open weekdays from 12 noon until 9pm
From Monday 4th June to Friday 22nd June 2018.
