Performance: The Wider Earth

Until 30 Dec | Natural History Museum

Theatrical history is being made here as an ambitious 357-seat performance space is erected within the Jerwood Gallery to accommodate the European premiere of David Morton’s Darwinian drama. That the production has found its natural home amongst the many specimens Charles Darwin collected on his expeditions is pure poetry.

But it’s the sublime puppetry that’s really making audiences’ jaws drop. Featuring a cast of seven, with 30 extraordinary handmade puppets, The Wider Earth is an ingenious coming-of-age story which celebrates the natural wonders of our planet.
