November 2014 / Diary / by Charlea Glanville

Very merry Marylebone

Ever since the Jubilee saw us celebrating like it was 1953, we’ve become rather accustomed to the ubiquitous street party – complete with lashings of bunting, finger sandwiches and cake, of course. But, this week, the ever-cheery Chiltern Street is giving our much-loved Brit tradition a festive update, with a cracker of a Yuletide street bash.

On 27 November, shops and cafés all along Marylebone’s favourite road will stay open into the evening, serving celebratory tipples and snacks, and providing the perfect opportunity for a timely gift-buying session. On top of late-night openings from our beloved boutiques, there’ll be a Christmas cashmere pop-up at ATLAS gallery, plus a whole host of offers and deals to whet your gifting appetite – including goodie bags aplenty, gifts with purchases and a chance to indulge your tired talons with a free nail shape and polish (plus cocktails) for visitors to West One Beauty.

Refuel in between shop visits with Chiltern Street’s street-side snack offerings. There’s tasty treats from Chiltern Firehouse’s exec chef Nuno Mendes, drinks and a Christmas grotto at Hardy’s Brasserie and Wine Bar, mulled wine and ginger snaps in Jas Musicals, and cinnamon buns at Monocle, amongst a host of others.

Putting the icing on the festive fruitcake is a melodic backdrop courtesy of local musician Tyler Rix, who will be performing a live session throughout the evening to bring an ambience to impress even St. Nick.

Without even a bit of bunting, Chiltern Street’s festive bonanza is bound to melt even the frostiest of hearts. If not, the free whisky tasting at Cadenhead’s should help…
