British pop artist, Philip Colbert of the Rodnik Band, prides himself on his clothing, stating that it is a ‘fashion statement with a cause.’ This is the perfect way to describe the collaboration between Colbert and Discovery Channel on a line of clothing and accessories; labelled Discovery Shark. The Discovery Shark Collection ranges from mobile phone cases and other accessories, to bomber jackets, sweatshirts, dresses and more.
Discovery Shark can be found in the ‘Shark Shack’ pop-up shop. Opening on the 18th July at Old Spitalfields’ Market, this leads up to the summer’s week-long event of shark programming, airing on Discovery Channel from July 22 to July 29.
The ‘Discovery Shark’ collaboration works to combine Colbert’s bold pop art aesthetic, with Discovery’s educational and philanthropic initiatives surrounding ocean conservation; allowing styles to include a witty design whilst still conveying an important message. Discovery’s must-see dynamic programmes are aiming to provide insight into sharks; often-misunderstood sea creatures. This year, Shark Week kicks off in the UK with BEAR VS SHARK premiering at 8pm July 22 on Discovery. Proceeds will be donated to The Shark Trust and the Marine Conservation Society.
